Once again Bozar Electronic Weekend was a great success. More than 40 dj’s took place behind the decks to offer us some of the best of electronic music at the moment. It would be a long review if we went all the way through the list, but let us mention some of the artists that impressed us the most.
Marble floor vibrated in the Centre For fine Arts in Brussels this weekend. Friday, the festival started with the experimental Ictus performance in Room M. Balmorhea, a minimalist instrumental ensemble get the people into the party mood with a very energetic performance and black and white visuals from old motion pictures. Balmorhea had recorded their last album from their concert in Gent last winter called “Live at Sint-Elisabethkerk”. A nice discovery for many others was Grasscut from Brighton, the UK. The night continued with bouncy performances of Plaid and Eskmo.
Another artist worth mentioning is Rustie. Excellent Scotish dj who already surprised with his debute IP ‘Glass swords’. Less known however upcoming talent the American Jeremiah Jae who delivered some nice experimental psychedelic beats with some hip-hop touch on it.
Second night in Bozar was with a congested traffic of spectators. Just before the Bozar Electronic Weekend, Tori Amos concert took place. Organizers succeed with this challenge without any problems entering the venue. Highly experimental Kaboom Karavan showed the audience how to make sounds from different instruments. Young German pianist Nils Framh stood up the stage with a piano and a keyboard and played both at the same time. In Terarken 1, was packed with young people. London based Dark Sky had melodic tunes. Upstairs meanwhile was some technical problems with the Siriusmo performance. Soon with Modeselektor Bozar was in fire. What a set from this duo who have been around for more than 15 years in the electronic music scene. Formidable closing up!
For those who could not attend Bozar Electronic Festival we have good news as the 25 November 2011 there is Bozar Night. Bozar will be rocking once again. The line up speaks for itself: Legowelt, Alden Tyrell, our own made in Brussels, Lefto. But pay attention for Dj Mellow and The Herbaliser. We highly recommend them both.
